David O’Donovan specialises in assisting developing countries to design national strategies and institutional structures to build competitiveness through innovation, increased foreign direct investment, and the development of local indigenous industry. He gained wide practical experience in these areas during more than 30 years with IDA Ireland and 12 years as a consultant.
David has worked on consultancy and training projects for a wide range of international organisations including the EU (Framework contracts, technical assistance projects, EU Twinning Projects), the World Bank, the Economic Commission for Latin America and Caribbean, and the OAS.
Regions and countries worked in for short-term consulting assignments include Africa (Tanzania), South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka), Central Asia (Kazakhstan), Eastern Europe (Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia), Middle East, (Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Yemen) South America (Colombia and Peru and Central America and Caribbean (Antigua & Barbuda and Belize).
